What's he doing now?
He's not in jail or rehab like most of those young t.v. stars is he?

I think it was a quaint idea adding children to the Enterprise on TNG. But, largely, this was a Star Trek character that really just bored me to tears. I loved the rest of the characters, though!

Capt. Picard
Lieut. Riker
Deanna Troi
Com. Warf
Geordi LaForge
Data
Dr. Crusher
Tasha Yar (hated that they killed her off 1st season!)

Sorry if I went a bit overboard in the "Storyline" thread...

As for Wesley Crusher, I agree that he was the only character from TNG that I did not like. The problem is that he played too much of a "wonder-kid" role.

I thought that was pretty much the whole point for the thread. Laughing

As for "Wesley Crusher" I probably wouldn't have even known who you were talking about if you hadn't included the picture. Yes, that is how big an impact he made on me.

They should have killed Wesley off when he finally became a real cadet. Beam him down and let some alien villian take care of him.

Yes. They killed her in the first season. But Denise Crosby, the lady who played Tasha, returned to the series several times as a guest star. She played a Romulan on those episodes.

Star TREK. While it might not be as commercially well known or profitable, I think it has had a major cultural impact on the world. With Trek, you had a lot of issues discussed in each episode that would not have really been brought to the forefront with many tv dramas. It offered more than just laser gun and light saber fights. Don't get me wrong--those are cool too!

For me, I am a fan of both Star Trek and Star Wars. I am excited that we are getting a new Trek movie this summer with an all new cast playing characters from the original 1960's tv show. It could be great, or it could suck. I am open to either, and I will save my judgement until after I see it on opening day.

Star Wars was great. IV, V and less so VI were huge triumphs in sci fi. Unfortunatley George Lucas let us all down with I, II and III. I did actually enjoy the newer ones (especially I and III) but a couple of major points made them be just not as good. First was the acting, which was rather poor to say the least. Attack Of The Clones was totally hampered by Hayden's acting ability, which is a shame as the movie could have been so much better with a bit of emotion - some of it was just plain embarrassing. Totally wooden! However he did improve quite a bit in III. The other thing that was a little annoying was the continuity. All those nice flashy ships in part I, II and III, turned in to 1970's styled ships by the end of III. I think more research was needed! They should have made parts I, II and III a lot less technological and more basic, so it would run more naturally into part IV.

I was one of the few that thought JarJar was ok, and worked well with the first movies feel. And after all the negative reviews when I actually got to see the film I really did enjoy it!

(Fundy scoring system....
V - 9.5/10
IV - 9/10
V - 8.5/10
III - 8.5/10
I - 8/10
II - 6.5/10)

Really looking forward to the live action Star Wars series, set between III and IV. That does sound very exciting.

Star Trek - Loved what I saw of The Next Generation, but never really got into the routine of watching it each week. The original series with Kirk et al was very enjoyable when I was growing up, but when I've seen the repeats I've been oddly uninterested in it all. I wanted to watch DS9 and Voyager but they didn't seem to work for me either (although towards the end DS9 started to get me addicted for a couple of episodes before they stopped showing it). The newest one (whatever it was called) I thought was okay, but never watched a whole episode - which means I probably can't judge it!

As for the films, they seemed like extended episodes of the TV show. They were okay, but nothing more. New one looks good though!

What no rating for "The Clone Wars?"

I'm actually looking forward to the new Star Trek Movie (much more so than the last few TNG movies).

I wanted to see clone wars until I read the reviews. And as there's also the clone wars cartoon series, and the new animated one coming up, I decided I should just stick to the live series (not including the holiday special!!)

With "Clone Wars", I think we've all watched Lucas milk Star Wars for everything it was worth and then pushed it a bit further. There comes a time when you either need to put a good idea to rest or hand it off to someone with some fresh ideas.

I think that this is what is happening with the Star Trek franchise. This new movie is both a prequel and a reboot. Hopefully, some new blood will bring this back to life in a way that old fans and potential new ones will absolutely love.

Yes, I agree that the new Star Trek movie does look like a reboot, which can only be a good thing. It worked for Batman, so it could work for Star Trek too.

As for Star Wars, I just hope the TV live action series will be good, rather than bland!

If Lucas is directing, it's a flop already. That is what made the first trilogy so successful--he worked with other directors so that he could focus more on writing, set design, and special effects. Lucas needed to do that with the newest trilogy so that the actors, who are good at what they do in other films, would not seem so rigid.

Oh no! if I'd have checked by here sooner i would have been able to combat my defense for Wesley.

He was probably one of my favorites. 1. Because everything that happened with him had such an air of innocence, sure he was annoying and whiny, but it was done in this "I just want everyone to get a long" kind of way, thus totally appealing to female trekkie Razz

You were supposed to faint at the site of Riker--the eye candy for the female watchers. We men had Tasha Yar, Deanna Troi, and later 7 of 9.
